Eat exactly what you want on Thanksgiving

Believe it or not, eating small portions of exactly what you want on Thanksgiving may actually be better for you in the long run than stuffing yourself of “healthy” alternatives while desiring what you are denying yourself.  If you choose not to have what you really would like,  you may eat and eat and eat, trying to satisfy yourself.  Instead, take tiny portions of exactly what you want and savor every bite.  Don’t go back for seconds either.  Put your fork down in between bites.  Pick your head up from the trough, I mean, plate.  Enjoy the company of those you are eating with.  Take a sip of water in between bites.  Really taste the food.  If you cannot taste the food anymore, that means you are full- STOP EATING. Try this.  If you are eating chocolate ice cream at the end of the meal and you are full, you will only taste the cold, not the chocolate.

Transitioning from Phase One to Phase Two

After you’ve released fat in Phase One, it can be a relief or even scary to move into Phase Two. While the food choices may be greater, many of our members “freak out” a bit with their new freedom. “I don’t want to go back to my old habits, but I am afraid with all the food choices.” “I don’t want to put any of the weight back on! How do I eat now?”

Take a deep breath, smile and believe that this is another step on your journey to your ideal created weight.
- Keep similar portions in Phase Two as you did in Phase One. Your plate should be filled similarly, but with a greater variety of food.
-Make the recipes in our Fresh, Full & Free Cookbook but use the Phase Two modifications. Enjoy cheese, nuts, other meats and all the fruit and vegetable varieties.
-Pay attention to your hunger and fullness. If you undereat at a meal, you will be hungry sooner than if you overate. By consuming the drops in Phase One, your hypothalamus is being reprogrammed to function normally allowing proper fat regulation. You eat fuel, you burn fuel.

-Use the Steak and Apple Tool if you gain more than 2 lbs of weight gain during Phase Two or Phase Three.  Refer to your Phase Two overview sheet that you got in your Packet.

Sprint Bursts or Long Distance Endurance

I have realized that I have been living my life in short sprinting bursts. With money: Hold my breath, don’t spend a dime, then get a influx from tax returns or a gift and it is gone as quick as it comes in. Same goes for my food: Pig Out on my load days, then go totally strict for the next month. Well, now it is now time to go long for endurance. Making decisions slowly, consciously like running long distances. No more being all intense then totally no limits. I am in it for the long haul. And the more I practice, the better I will get. Wait a minute, that leaves room for mistakes and improvement. How cool is that?

My Fat Tuesday isn’t going to be

So I am starting a day early on my Lenten journey. Not sure who will be reading this but I am giving some ground rules for me. These entries are a reflection time for me. If I feel led, I may be motivating, but the posts are for my reflection. I pray that the Spirit will use it as he sees fit to and maybe even cause a Mustard Bush to grow.
First, a confession. I have gain about 15 pounds back of the 90 I lost last year. whew. That feels good to say. It is not because the program doesn’t work. It is because I am a work in progress. So as of right now, I have ONLY lost 75 pounds. – Wow. Vicki, you are doing good. – Thanks.- I usually look at the negative and I am happy to say that I am 75 pounds lighter than this time last year.

Funny, this journey I am on; I was going to lose the bit I gained back during Lent, but when my son Caleb wanted to lose weight in January, I felt the Lord say, “Journey with Caleb, use Lent to get your Balance.” So, that is what I have done. Caleb lost 19 pounds and I am ready for balance. I am sick of the pendulum swing of Load Days and Strict Phase 1. I need the swinging to stop. Which leads me where I am today. It’s Fat Tuesday and I need to do a “Steak and Apple Day.” Quandary in the morning –steak and apple cause I need to, or pork out cause most others are? Enter my husband- “Vicki, which decision brings you more peace?” As I am answering him, I feel God saying, “Steak and apple today and use Lent to get your balance.”

So I am going to be dropping weight on Fat Tuesday. I’ll let you know how much tomorrow.
